New Year, New Season: The "Schädelgrund Brecher" Hit the Pitch!

After a successful launch of our new "Seasonal System Focus" in late 2025, it is time to turn the page. For the second half of 2025, our group was fully committed to Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and the results were great: fully painted armies, everyone on the same page with the rules, and epic battles across the Mortal Realms.

But as our democratic seasonal vote dictated, it’s time for a new challenge. For the first half of 2026 (H1), we are trading our swords for pigskins and diving headfirst into Blood Bowl 3rd Edition!

The Power of Focus: Our Seasonal System Focus

To avoid "hobby butterfly" syndrome and rule fatigue, we follow a Seasonal System Focus: Every six months, we democratically elect one game to be our sole priority. This ensures everyone has a painted army and knows the rules inside out.

While AoS allowed us to paint massive armies, Blood Bowl is a breath of fresh air. A "Beer & Pretzels" game where the hobby effort is concentrated on a small squad. It’s fast-paced, hilarious, and the perfect follow-up to our big AoS battles.

Introducing: The Schädelgrund Brecher (Black Orcs)

For my start into Blood Bowl and our Blood Bowl Seasonal System Focus for the first half-year 2026, I’ve chosen the Black Orcs. I wanted a team that embodies brute force and tactical discipline. Also I have never in my life painted orcs!!

In the current Blood Bowl 3rd Edition, Black Orcs are a premier control team, built to dictate the line of scrimmage.

After a few productive nights at the painting desk, the "Schädelgrund Brecher" are ready for kickoff. Here is my roster:
  • The Boss: Grimgor Kieferbruch is the undisputed leader of the mob.
  • The Muscle: My Black Orc Blockers Gorgulk, Mograt, Thokk, Zorgat, and Oglok are the iron wall of the team.
  • The Heavyweight: Our Troll, Kieselkauer, is already looking for a snack on the sidelines.
  • The Specialists: My Goblins Gribbit, Zink, Flitzie, Kratzbuckel, Fieser Finger, and "Snotty" the throw-fodder provide the speed (and the chaos).

Their motto: “SKULLS TO THE GROUND!

Ready for January

I am incredibly hyped for our first matches this month. The competition is fierce this season! Besides my Schädelgrund Brecher, the local league features some very interesting (and soon-to-be-smashed) contenders:
  • Bilker Gnomeads (Gnomes)
  • Nehekarische Knochen Hunde (Tomb Kings)
  • Benrath Barons (Elves)
It’s going to be a wild mix of tricky Gnomes, ancient undead, and arrogant Elves. Plenty of skulls for my Black Orcs to grind into the ground!

The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove

The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove – A Growing Force The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove are marching to war! Recently, I completed three towering tree spirits —a Treeman Ancient, an ordinary Treeman, and the Spirit of Durthu —bringing my army close to completion. This army has deep roots, dating back to the Old Days of Warhammer , when it was primarily made up of Wood Elves . (Check out my [2014 blog post] for the original army!) Over the years, I have expanded and refined the Cherry Blossom Grove, adding numerous new miniatures while staying true to its original theme. And the journey is far from over! In the coming months and years, I plan to continue expanding the Cherry Blossom Grove , with some exciting additions on the horizon. Alarielle, the Everqueen , will take her rightful place at the heart of the force, and more Kurnoth Hunters will reinforce the ranks. I’m also considering a Living City detachment from the Cities of Sigmar Battletome , blending Sylvane...

Building the Realm of Ghyran: Ultimate Sylvaneth Terrain Board & Army Showcase

After months of crafting, painting, and assembling, my latest Fantasy Terrain project is finally complete! This new battlefield is a lush and immersive realm, perfect for my Sylvaneth   army, The Cherry Blossom Grove , in Warhammer Age of Sigmar . Creating a Fantasy Tabletop Board for Age of Sigmar For this project, my goal was to build a fully painted wargaming table representing the Realm of Life (Ghyran). I wanted the terrain to feel overgrown and ancient. Key features of this gaming board include modular ruins reclaimed by nature, and dense scatter terrain. The color palette mixes lush greens to contrast with the dark stone of the ruins, providing a cinematic backdrop for Warhammer Age of Sigmar battles. Creating this terrain has been a labor of love. I focused on overgrown ruins, towering trees, mystical terrain, and intricate pathways to bring the magic of the Sylvaneth to life.  Showcase: The Sylvaneth "Cherry Blossom Grove" Army I took the opportunity to do a Syl...
