After months of crafting, painting, and assembling, my latest
Fantasy Terrain project is finally complete! This new battlefield is a lush and immersive realm, perfect for my
Sylvaneth army,
The Cherry Blossom Grove, in
Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
Creating a Fantasy Tabletop Board for Age of Sigmar
For this project, my goal was to build a fully painted wargaming table representing the Realm of Life (Ghyran). I wanted the terrain to feel overgrown and ancient. Key features of this gaming board include modular ruins reclaimed by nature, and dense scatter terrain.
The color palette mixes lush greens to contrast with the dark stone of the ruins, providing a cinematic backdrop for Warhammer Age of Sigmar battles.
Creating this terrain has been a labor of love. I focused on overgrown ruins, towering trees, mystical terrain, and intricate pathways to bring the magic of the Sylvaneth to life.
Showcase: The Sylvaneth "Cherry Blossom Grove" Army
I took the opportunity to do a Sylvaneth photo shoot, capturing the cherry blossom grove in its natural habitat. The terrain provided the perfect backdrop. Seeing the miniatures on a matching terrain board brings the faction to life. The collection features Alarielle the Everqueen, heavy support from Kurnoth Hunters, and swarms of Dryads.
Here are some of my favorite shots from the session, including the Lady of Vines and the Spirit of Durthu:

Finally, a gaming board is meant to be played on! Seeing my minis placed in a cinematic environment truly brings them to life. Here are some action shots and epic fights on the new board:

Happy wargaming!
Love the overgrown terrain! That's the way I picture Ghyran – beautiful, but also a bit ceepy and certainly deadly. Inspiring stuff, that I will keep in mind for my ruins.
ReplyDeleteCan you share what paints were used on your tyranids?
ReplyDeleteHey - appreciate this was posted a while ago - and not sure how much you see these comments and respond. But these models look amazing, I was curious where the pink/cherry blossom foliage you added to the minis was from?
