Adeptus Custodes in True Scale – My New Warhammer 40K Army

After several months of dedicated work, my new Warhammer 40K Adeptus Custodes army is finally coming together!

True Scale Adeptus Custodes – A Necessary Conversion

A significant part of this project involved converting all Custodes models to True Scale, making them a head taller than a Space Marine. One issue I’ve always had with the standard models is their size—far too small! According to the lore, Adeptus Custodes are taller than Space Marines and much larger than normal humans. However, the official Games Workshop miniatures don’t reflect this, especially due to their short legs.

To fix this, I decided to scale my Custodes properly by lengthening each model:

  • 3mm between foot and knee

  • 2-3mm between knee and hip

  • Total height increase: 5-6mm

Now, they truly look like the towering golden warriors they are meant to be!

Painting the Adeptus Custodes – The Power of Gold

I had an absolute blast painting this elite force, especially using the Gold Pigment from Greenstuffworld. The metallic finish is stunning, making the Adeptus Custodes armor shine with an incredible, regal look.

I also made a little showcase video of my True Scale Custodes army:

Size Comparison – True Scale vs. Standard Models

In the following pictures you can see how I converted the Custodes Minis and a size comparison with a 28mm human model (Sister of Silence) and a Primaris Space Marine.

Army Progress – 1,500 Points and Growing

Currently, my True Scale Adeptus Custodes army stands at 1,500 points and is almost complete… almost! My next goal is to reach the 2,000 points sweet spot by adding:

  • 3 Allarus Terminators

  • 3 Venatari Custodes

  • 1 Grav-Tank

  • 1 Knight

The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove

The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove – A Growing Force The Sylvaneth of the Cherry Blossom Grove are marching to war! Recently, I completed three towering tree spirits —a Treeman Ancient, an ordinary Treeman, and the Spirit of Durthu —bringing my army close to completion. This army has deep roots, dating back to the Old Days of Warhammer , when it was primarily made up of Wood Elves . (Check out my [2014 blog post] for the original army!) Over the years, I have expanded and refined the Cherry Blossom Grove, adding numerous new miniatures while staying true to its original theme. And the journey is far from over! In the coming months and years, I plan to continue expanding the Cherry Blossom Grove , with some exciting additions on the horizon. Alarielle, the Everqueen , will take her rightful place at the heart of the force, and more Kurnoth Hunters will reinforce the ranks. I’m also considering a Living City detachment from the Cities of Sigmar Battletome , blending Sylvane...

Starting a Tyranid army: Colorscheme

Diving into Warhammer 40K – My First Army Choice I've been a miniature hobbyist for over 10 years , exploring a variety of tabletop games like Warhammer Fantasy, Infinity, Frostgrave, Malifaux, and Kings of War . But my hunger for new experiences in the hobby never fades. Recently, my gaming group convinced me to dive into the deep and awesome lore of Warhammer 40K . After devouring a dozen books—especially the Horus Heresy series —I was completely drawn into the rich, grimdark universe. That’s when I decided it was time to start my first Warhammer 40K army . Choosing Between Slaanesh and Tyranids When picking my first 40K army, I was torn between Emperor’s Children / Slaanesh forces and Tyranids . Both factions have an amazing design and deep, intriguing lore. In the end, I chose Tyranids —not only because they are relatively easy to paint , but also because I wanted to immerse myself deeper into the universe before tackling the intricate conversions required for a Slaanesh forc...
