Origins and War Records of Hive Fleet Osvorax
The Slaughter of Euphratica
The world of Euphratica, a sacred shrine world of the Adeptus Sororitas, fell within a few Terran days. Atmospheric defense shields were still active when the swarm began its devastation from within using mycetic spores that struck like living projectiles. The Cathedral of Martyr Kharissa was completely consumed. Dozens of holy relics, including a shard of the Gladius of Saint Alicia Dominica, were either assimilated or defiled by the swarm. No sister survived. The response of the Imperium was fierce but arrived too late.
The Ambush at the Valnon Crossroad
In the year M42.012 a combined expeditionary force of Ultramarines and Imperial Knights from House Terryn and House Cadmus was engaged in a crusade to destroy Ork fronts in the Valnon Corridor. Osvorax had already sensed the massive harvest of biomass and waited in the shadows. While the Imperial forces were locked in an embittered battle with the Orks the sky darkened with what appeared to be a solar storm but was actually the veil of death. Myriads of Tyranid spores and living boarding organisms descended from space. Osvorax bit into the conflict with total force.
The Ork fleet was destroyed first as bio warships rammed the orkish space hulks and dissolved them from the inside. Parasitic biotentacles consumed technology and life equally. Within two hours the orkish presence in orbit was gone. Imperial ships attempted escape maneuvers but were intercepted by boarding tentacles. The Glory of Espandor, a masterpiece of the Segmentum fleet, was broken into three pieces by a massive leviathan bio ram.
On the surface millions of gaunts overran both Orks and Imperials. Everything was treated as food. Amidst this carnage the Tyrant of Valnon appeared. This monstrous alpha bio form stands over twelve meters tall with a heavily armored crest and bone swords dripping with blood. It radiates an aura of brutal intelligence. Sir Glyver of House Terryn in his Knight Errant challenged the beast but survived for exactly nine seconds. The Tyrant shattered the reaper chainsword with one swing and pierced the cockpit with both bone swords before throwing the wreckage aside. Two Redemptor Dreadnoughts of the Ultramarines were destroyed shortly after. One was sliced apart while the other was crushed as the Tyrant threw it against an Ork Gorkanaut.
Communication ceased and the last vox signals were nothing but screams and the screeching of metal. The biotitans of Osvorax landed and the battlefield became silent. Three Chapter Masters, two Great Knights, one Warboss and over one hundred thousand soldiers were wiped out in less than twelve hours. Their DNA and equipment were consumed and analyzed. Nothing remained.
"Osvorax is not a tool of the Hive Mind. It is its whim: the living proof that even Chaos holds no monopoly on madness and destruction." Inquisitor Argus Vahl, Ordo Xenos, prior to his final transmission.
